Check By Phone

One of the most overlooked tools in efficient payment processing today is the check by phone!

  • The number of paper checks paid in 2009 is estimated to have been 24.4 billon, for a total value of $41.4 trillion.  (Source: The 2010 Federal Reserve Payments Study, December 2009.)  

    • There are about 75 million consumers in America who do not or are unable to use credit cards.  Checks by phone are an excellent payment option for them and many others by providing instant closure to a sale, purchase or payment that until now could only be enjoyed by credit card users.

    When your customer calls in to make a purchase or a payment, simply offer to take their check over the phone.  All you need to ask for is their bank's routing number, their account number, and a check number .  You then process their order/payment, and send out a confirmation by mail or email.  Check verification and/or a 3-day "shipment policy" reduces the likelihood of fraudulent activities against your company.
